TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : I Chronicles 13-16 chapters
DEVOTION
1 Chronicles 15:29 (NLT) “But as the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David skipping about and laughing with joy, she was filled with contempt for him.”
David was willing to look foolish in the eyes of others in order to express his gratitude and joy before God. While he celebrated the return of the Ark to Jerusalem with dancing and wholehearted praise, Michal watched with contempt and could not understand his worship.
During Saul’s reign, worship had become dry and ritualistic. Michal, shaped by that environment, struggled to accept David’s free and sincere expression of praise.
Even today, some people may appear “foolish” in their passionate worship but it often comes from a genuine and devoted heart. Instead of judging, we should learn to accept and respect different expressions of worship. At the same time, we should not hold back out of fear of what others may think. True worship is about the heart not how you look.
Like David, let us worship God with joy, freedom, and our whole heart. No matter how it looks to others, what matters most is that it is pleasing to God.
