30 AUGUST 2026, DAY 242 – THE DAY OF REST

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Ezekiel 19-21 Chapters

DEVOTION

The world often sees continuous work, busyness, and productivity as signs of a successful life. But is a life of constant activity really a successful life?

Ezekiel 20:12-13 reminds us of the importance of the Sabbath. The Sabbath, instituted by God at creation, was entrusted to Israel as a sign between God, who had created and redeemed them, and His people.

The Sabbath is a gift from God and a day to rest, reflect, and reconnect with Him. It reminds us that our identity and worth do not come from how much we accomplish, but from our relationship with God.

Do you follow a day of rest?

Do you understand the purpose behind it?

Are you using your day of rest to draw closer to God and refocus your life?

The Sabbath was a reminder that Israel belonged to God as His special people. In the same way, setting aside time to rest in God reminds us that we belong to Him.

It is good to attend church on Sunday, but are we fulfilling God’s purpose for the day?

The main intention is not merely to attend a service, but to rest in Him, reconnect with Him, and refocus our lives with clarity.

Sometimes, we need to stop striving and simply be still in God’s presence. Rest is not wasted time when it brings us closer to Him.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for the gift of rest. Help me understand and fulfill the purpose for which You have given it to me. Teach me to slow down, rest in You, and refocus my life with clarity and wisdom. Help me remember that my worth does not come from how much I accomplish, but from who I am in You.

In Jesus name, amen.
