TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Psalms 46-48 chapters DEVOTION
Is anything disturbing you?
Is something bothering you so deeply that it keeps you awake at night?
Is uncertainty filling your mind?
Is fear taking hold of your heart?
Is there a problem you simply cannot stop thinking about?
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10 (NIV) As I read this verse, there is a joy within me that words cannot fully express. What an amazing God we have One who speaks to us anytime and anywhere.
In every situation and circumstance we face, God gently tells us, “Be still.” In Psalm 46:10, the phrase “be still” comes from the Hebrew word RAPHAH, which means
To cease striving,
To let go,
To relax your grip.
God is asking us to cease trying to carry the weight of the world on our own shoulders and instead cast your burden on God. He invites us to let go of our worries and let God in to our lives. Maybe you have been tightly holding onto a thought, a person, a habit, a fear, or an outcome. Today, choose to relax your grip on the world and start holding onto God instead. Let God become your grip.
When challenges knock us down, let us raphah in God, trusting that He is sovereign and fully in control of our lives.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to cease striving, to let go, and to relax my grip on the things of this world. Help me to be still in my soul, mind, heart, and body. Teach me to trust You completely. Amen.
