TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Jeremiah 49-50 Chapters
DEVOTION
As we read Jeremiah 49, 50 and previous chapters as well, it is easy to focus on the prophecies against the nations, but behind those words was a real man carrying an incredibly difficult message from God.
I often wonder what Jeremiah must have looked like not only outwardly, but inwardly.
What did it feel like to wake up each day knowing that God had entrusted him with messages that people would resist, reject, and sometimes hate him for delivering?
How many times must his heart have been heavy?
How many times did he have to strengthen himself in God and continue?
Jeremiah’s commitment towards God is beyond words.
And that challenges us today.
Jeremiah’s courage should not remain something we simply admire. But let’s go a step ahead and try to be like him.
Let us also remember that Jeremiah prayed for people who are still resisting God’s truth. So, instead of becoming frustrated with them, may we have hearts that pray for them. We cannot change hearts, but God can.
So today, let’s honestly ask ourselves
Are you faithful in the little God has entrusted you with?
Are you praying about someone who is resisting the truth without giving up?
CHALLENGE
Select a name from your friend circle or church who you think that’s it’s impossible for them to change. That’s who are we are supposed to pray for today. I take up the challenge.
PRAYER
Lord, I cannot fully comprehend what Jeremiah must have experienced as he walked in obedience to do Your will. Yet through his life, I see his courage, perseverance, and faithfulness. Lord, help me to understand that true success is not measured by the standards of this world, but by faithfulness to You. Give me the courage to obey You even when it is difficult, to speak Your truth with love.
Help me to pray for those who are resisting Your truth rather than giving up on them. Work in their hearts and draw them closer to You. Search my heart, Lord. If I am pursuing worldly success while neglecting You, redirect me. Let my life bring You glory. Just as You were with Jeremiah, be with me. Strengthen me, guide me, and help me faithfully accomplish what You have called me to do. I surrender my life completely into Your mighty hands. In Jesus name, Amen.
