Jeremiah 46:28
“Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, for I am with you,” says the Lord. “I will completely destroy the nations to which I have exiled you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you, but with justice; I cannot let you go unpunished.”
God’s people had turned away from Him and worshiped lifeless idols. Yet, even in their disobedience, God did not abandon them. Instead, He promised to discipline them.
Discipline may be an uncomfortable word for us. None of us naturally welcomes correction. We would rather hear words that make us feel good than words that expose what needs to change. But God’s discipline comes from His love.
God corrects us because He wants to restore us, not reject us. His discipline brings us back to the right path, purifies our hearts, and teaches us to walk according to His will.
Correction can be painful, but the result can be beautiful. When God points out something in our lives that needs to change, we should not run from Him. We should humble ourselves, listen, repent, and allow Him to transform us.
Maybe you have drifted away from God. Maybe the path you are walking has become difficult, and you are wondering why God is allowing certain things in your life. Remember this, God has not abandoned you.
Sometimes God uses difficult seasons to draw our hearts back to Him. But not every difficulty is punishment. Whatever the reason for the season you are facing, you can trust that God is able to use it for your growth and purification.
His correction is proof that He still cares.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for loving me enough to correct me when I go astray. Give me a humble heart that welcomes Your correction instead of resisting it. Search my heart and reveal anything that is not pleasing to You. Purify me and help me walk faithfully in Your will. When life becomes difficult, I’ll only trust you. Thank You for never abandoning me. May my life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus name, Amen.
