TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Jeremiah 37-39 Chapters
DEVOTION
Imagine being lowered into a muddy cistern and left there to die not because you did something wrong, but because you faithfully delivered God’s message.
“So the officials took Jeremiah from his cell and lowered him by ropes into an empty cistern in the prison yard. It belonged to Malkijah, a member of the royal family. There was no water in the cistern, but there was a thick layer of mud at the bottom, and Jeremiah sank down into it.”
Jeremiah 38:6 NLT
That was Jeremiah’s experience.
For years, Jeremiah faithfully proclaimed God’s Word and you know what he got in return, was rejected, mocked, beaten, imprisoned, threatened, and persecuted. He received no love, no support, no popularity and no recognition that we might expect from someone faithfully serving God.
And yet, Jeremiah remained faithful.
Today, our measure of ministry can easily become numbers
How many people liked the post on Instagram?
How many responded to my message?
How many people appreciated what I shared?
But Jeremiah reminds us that faithfulness to God cannot be measured by likes, applause, or visible results.
Interestingly, in Jeremiah 39:11–12, it was the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar who ordered that Jeremiah be protected and treated well. The people Jeremiah had faithfully warned often rejected him, while an enemy king showed him kindness.
This teaches us something important that God never promised that faithful servants would be free from suffering or persecution. But He does promise to be with us through it.
So, don’t become discouraged when you serve faithfully and don’t see the results you expected.
You may pray for someone for years and see no change.
You may share God’s Word and receive little response.
You may encourage others while nobody encourages you.
You may serve faithfully without receiving recognition.
BUT KEEP GOING.
Your ministry is ultimately for God, not for human approval.
People may not notice your faithfulness.
People may not appreciate your sacrifice.
People may not even remember what you have done.
But God sees it all.
Hebrews 6:10 reminds us that God is just, He will not forget your work and the love you have shown in serving Him.
The reward for faithfulness may not always come during our time on earth. But one day, we will stand before the One for whom we served and His approval will be worth more than any
earthly applause.
BE FAITHFUL WITH WHATEVER GOD HAS ENTRUSTED YOU WITH.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the ministry or the work you have entrusted me with me. Help me serve you faithfully. In Jesus name, Amen.
