TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Hosea 1-3 Chapters
DEVOTION
Hosea 1:2-3
Hosea received an instruction from God that must have been incredibly difficult to accept. It is hard to imagine what Hosea felt when God told him to marry a woman who would be unfaithful to him. He may not have wanted to do it, and he may not have understood why God was asking this of him but he obeyed.
God sometimes calls us to a deeper level of obedience when we are facing greater difficulty.
There may be times when God asks you to do something difficult today. How will you respond?
Will you obey Him?
Will you obey Him, trusting that He knows everything and that there is a special purpose behind His request?
Are you willing to accept that the pain involved in your obedience may benefit the people you serve, even if you do not personally see the benefit?
It is really scary to imagine what Hosea must have gone through. Yet his obedience became part of God’s message to His people.
Obedience comes at a cost.
Knowing the cost, will you still choose to obey?
PRAYER
Lord, it is really, really hard to obey sometimes. But God, I choose to obey You no matter what it costs. Help me trust You even when I do not understand. Give me the strength to follow Your will, guide my steps, and help me remember that Your purposes are greater than my understanding. May my obedience bring glory to Your name. In Jesus name, amen.
