1 SEPTEMBER 2026, DAY 244 – DRESS YOURSELVES IN HUMILITY

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Ezekiel 25-27 Chapters

DEVOTION

Ezekiel 27:3-4

This passage speaks about Tyre, an ancient coastal city that was beautiful, prosperous, and strategically located for maritime trade. Tyre flourished because of its wealth and influence. However, its beauty and success became a source of pride.

And pride is dangerous.

Read James 4:13-16.

We often make plans for tomorrow as though we are in complete control of our lives. But the truth is, we do not know what tomorrow will bring. Our life on earth is brief and uncertain like a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears.

God is not against us finding joy and satisfaction in what we accomplish. He gives us gifts, opportunities, abilities, and success. What He warns us against is pride, the kind of self-esteem that makes us forget God and look down on others.

One of the most important lessons we can learn today is this that

God is the foundation and source of everything we have including our very lives.

Whatever we possess, whatever we achieve, and wherever we are today, we have received it by God’s grace.

1 Peter 5:5 (NLT) says, “Dress yourselves in humility.”

Humility is the best garment we can wear. It reminds us that we are dependent on God and encourages us to treat others with love, grace, and respect.

Did I dress myself in humility today?
Did my words, attitudes, and actions reflect a heart that depends on God?

May we never allow God’s blessings to become a reason for pride. Instead, may His blessings lead us to greater gratitude, humility, and dependence on Him.

Submerged remains of the ancient Phoenician and Greco-Roman port city of Tyre rest off the coast of modern-day Lebanon in the Mediterranean Sea. So, now it’s a submerged city. The reason for submergence of the city is the PRIDE.

PRAYER

Lord, everything I have comes from You. Whatever I am and whatever I have accomplished is possible only because of Your grace. I am nothing without You. I acknowledge that You as the source of my life and everything I have. Help me to become more humble each day and to treat others with love, grace, and respect. In Jesus name, Amen.
