2 JULY 2026, DAY 183 – GUARD YOUR HEART!

TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Proverbs 4-6 Chapters

DEVOTION

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

Our heart is the source of our thoughts, desires, and affections, and these shape the way we live. We naturally make time for what we love.

However, our hearts can be drawn in two directions toward what is good or toward what is sinful. That is why Solomon instructs us to guard our hearts carefully.

Every day we face choices between God’s way and our own selfish desires. Often, sinful desires seem more appealing because they satisfy us temporarily, but they never lead to lasting peace.

So, how do we guard our hearts?

By filling your heart with God’s Word. His Word acts like a compass, guiding you to the right path when life becomes confusing. When temptation, fear, or discouragement comes, remind yourself of God’s promises. His Word keeps your mind focused and your heart steady.

When God’s Word fills your heart, it begins to transform your actions. As Romans 13:12 (NLT) says, “So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes.” Think about it that if your clothes become dirty, you don’t continue wearing them, you change them as soon as possible because you recognize they are unclean. Sin should be the same.

When God’s Word lives in your heart, it exposes sinful thoughts, attitudes, and desires. Instead of becoming comfortable with them, you will want to get rid off them and live in a way that pleases God.

Just in case if you have given in to wrong desires, don’t stay in guilt. Go to God and ask for His forgiveness. He is faithful to forgive, strengthen, and help you walk in righteousness. He never leaves those who sincerely seek Him.

THE CHALLENGE

Let’s all try and memorise a scripture a day and We are in this together.

PRAYER

Dear God, thank You for Your guidance through Your Word. Forgive me for the times I have chosen wrong desires over Your will. Fill my heart with Your truth and help me memorize Scripture so that it will guard my heart against temptation. Transform my thoughts, my desires, and my actions so that my life will honor You. In Jesus name, Amen.
