9 MAY 2026, DAY 128 – DOUBLE BLESSINGS

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Job 40-42 chapters DEVOTION

“When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before! Then all his brothers, sisters, and former friends came and feasted with him in his home. And they consoled him and comforted him because of all the trials the Lord had brought against him. And each of them brought him a gift of money and a gold ring.” Job 42:10, 11 (NLT)

The restoration in the book of Job didn’t begin when Job defended himself but it began when he released bitterness and prayed for the very people who wounded him. In Gospel of Matthew 5:44, Jesus Christ gives a command that goes against natural human instinct and Thats love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Job became a living example of that truth. Job went through a lot yet his heart stayed soft even after deep suffering, misunderstanding, and false accusations. His friends tried to condemn and hurt him instead of showing compassion. Yet Job chose not to retaliate but pray for them.

Look at his heart.

That posture opened the door for restoration, healing, and “double portion” blessing. Forgiveness frees your heart from being chained to offense. Praying for difficult people changes us before it changes them. God often works deeply in the hidden attitudes of the heart before He changes outward circumstances.

What’s your first response when someone condemns you?

Do you retaliate?

Is it making you bitter or better?

Examine your heart.

Don’t expect double blessings when your heart is not right!

PRAYER

Lord, help me respond with your grace and love. Teach me to pray even for those who misunderstand or hurt me. Create in me a clean heart that reflects Your love. Amen.
