DEVOTION
The Pain of Distance
In the Old Covenant, worship was defined by boundaries, barriers, and distance. In Ezekiel’s vision of the restored temple Ezekiel 46:1-3, the separation between humanity and God’s presence was visible in stone and mortar.
The priests alone served at the altar in the inner court. The ruler stood at the threshold of the inner gateway to present the offerings. The common people stood far off, outside the doorway of the outer gate, waiting, watching from a distance, never allowed near the sacred fire.
To worship meant standing outside. You had to bring your offering, place it in the hands of leaders and mediators, and peer through a gateway, longing for a presence you could not approach.

Divine Reversal: Seeking God
Turn the pages into the New Testament, and the entire landscape of worship is transformed. The veil in the temple is torn in two from top to bottom Matthew 27:51. The physical gates and human mediators pass away.
Jesus sits by a well in Samaria and announces a reality that turns religious tradition upside down:
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23
A RADICAL SHIFT
Under the Law the people travelled long distances just to wait outside a shut gate.
YOU KNOW WHAT GRACE DID?
The Almighty Creator of the universe is actively searching for people to draw near to Him.
We did not cross the distance to reach Him, He crossed the infinite divide to reach us.
Why Us?
What prompted such an extraordinary shift?
Did our righteousness qualify us?
Did our religious devotion earn us an invitation past the gate?
Scripture answers with an absolute No.
Read Titus 3:5 and Hebrews 10:19,20.
It was not our worthiness, but His mercy, not our pedigree, but the precious blood of Christ. Jesus became both our sacrifice and our High Priest so that the outsider at the gate could become a son or daughter at the Father’s table.
THE CALL
Let Him Find You
We are no longer onlookers standing outside the wall, hoping our sacrifice is accepted from afar. Through Christ, the door is wide open. Let us not offer Him shallow words, routine songs, or external religion.
Let us worship Him
In Spirit: Not bound to a physical mountain or temple, but from the inner reality of a regenerated heart.
In Truth: Honest, uncovered, without masks, anchored in the truth of who Jesus is.
Today, when God’s sight is up on the earth looking for a true worshiper, let Him stop His search at you.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the sacrifice you have done on the cross of Calvary. Whatever i am now is purely your Grace. I worship with all my heart, all my soul and mind. In Jesus name, amen.
