TODAY’s SCRIPTURE: Psalms 85-87 Chapters
DEVOTION
Psalm 85:13 (KJV) “Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.” This verse echoes the words of Jesus in Gospel of Matthew: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
What a beautiful promise!
God’s righteousness goes before us, preparing the way and guiding our steps. It is not merely a standard for us to attain but a gift we receive through Christ, a right standing with God that allows us to walk closely with Him.
When we seek God’s kingdom above our own desires, His presence becomes our guide. This does not mean life will be free from challenges, but it does mean we never walk alone. His righteousness lights our path, gives us wisdom for every decision, and keeps us moving in the direction of His will.
The more we pursue God, the more our lives reflect His character. His righteousness produces hearts filled with justice, mercy, compassion, and obedience. As we follow His steps, we can trust that He will take care of everything we truly need.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for going before me and guiding my steps. Help me to seek Your kingdom and righteousness above all else. Let my life reflect Your character, and lead me faithfully in the path You have prepared for me. Amen.
