Jeremiah 7:21-23
God established the system of sacrifices not because sacrifices pleased Him, but to lead His people to repentance and obedience.
Over time, the people faithfully offered sacrifices, but their hearts drifted far from God. They forgot the true purpose behind their offerings. Through Jeremiah, God reminds them that religious rituals are meaningless when they are not accompanied by a life of obedience.
Perhaps you attend church every Sunday. Maybe you serve on a ministry team, are involved in full-time ministry, or faithfully follow biblical principles and moral standards. These are all good things, but without a heart that obeys God, they lose their true value.
God desires your heart before He desires your service. He wants a genuine relationship with you which expressed through willing obedience.
If the Holy Spirit is showing you an area of your life that needs to change, come to God honestly. He is gracious, merciful, and always ready to receive those who turn to Him with sincere hearts.
PRAYER
Lord, I am sorry for the ways I have been disobedient. Today, I give You my heart. Help me to obey You in my words, my actions, and my behaviour. May my worship come from a heart that truly loves and follows You. In Jesus name, Amen.
