TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Proverbs 10-12 Chapters
DEVOTION
“Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich. A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.” Proverbs 10:4–5 (NLT)
Every day, God gives us the same amount of time that’s 24 hours or 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds. Each moment is filled with opportunities to learn, grow and become more like Christ. Yet it is easy to let those precious moments slip away through endless scrolling, unnecessary conversations, binge watching Netflix or stand up comedy, procrastination, or simply doing nothing.
Solomon reminds us that diligence brings reward, while laziness leads to loss. Just as a farmer must gather the harvest when the season arrives, we must make the most of the opportunities God places before us. With laziness we miss a lot of opportunities.
Missed opportunities?
May be you’ll never get such kind of opportunity in such an environment and in such a favourable condition again. And you’ll never of the same age again.
God definitely restores but time has past right?
One practical way to overcome distraction is by using environmental triggers arranging your surroundings to make good habits easier and bad habits more difficult.
Here’s a simple challenge:
1. Put your phone in another room while you work, study, or spend time with God.
2. Keep your Bible within reach instead
At first, you may realize how often you instinctively reach for your phone. Instead of giving in to distraction, pick up your Bible. Read it, meditate on it, and allow God’s Word to transform your thoughts and actions until it becomes evident in your daily life.
Refuse to be lazy or to waste the hours God has entrusted to you. Time is one of God’s greatest gifts. Use it wisely for His glory and for your growth.
PRAYER
Dear God, forgive me for the time I have wasted on endless scrolling, procrastination, and doing nothing instead of using my time wisely. Help me to value every moment You have given me. Today I choose to scroll less, read Your Word more, and maintain an unbroken fellowship with You. Give me the discipline to work diligently and to make the most of every opportunity You place before me, in Jesus name, Amen.
