DEVOTION
Ezekiel 33:31 NLT
“So my people came pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words and their hearts seek only after money.”
Context: Ezekiel’s message to the people of Judah.
Ezekiel was warning and conveying the message given by God to His people. But the people pretended to be sincere. They listened to God’s message, yet they had no intention of acting upon it.
The same question comes to us today.
When God conveys a message to you through Sunday’s sermon, a devotion like this, an Instagram post, or an online sermon, how are you responding?
The easiest thing we can do is simply scroll away and keep scrolling all day, yet get nothing out of what God is trying to speak to us.
If you listen to God’s Word but never respond to it, it is like glancing in to a mirror, noticing that something is wrong with your hairstyle, dress and doing nothing about it, and simply walking away.
It sounds foolish, right?
But that is exactly what it can look like when we hear God’s Word and refuse to respond.
God’s Word is a mirror. It reveals our hearts and exposes our wrong attitudes, actions, and sins in the light of God’s truth.
So, when God reveals something in your life that needs to change, don’t wait for the “right time.” Respond now.
If God is asking you to lay something down at His altar, do it now.
Lay down the unforgiveness.
Lay down the sinful thoughts.
Lay down the habits that are pulling you away from God.
Lay down whatever He is asking you to surrender.
Now is the best time to respond to God.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for allowing Your light to shine upon me so that I can see what is evil and sinful in Your sight. I lay my unforgiveness, evil thoughts, and sins at Your altar. Sanctify me and transform me for Your glory. Help me not only to hear Your Word but also to obey and live according to it. In Jesus name, amen.
