18 OCTOBER 2026, DAY 289 – WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING YOUR MIND WITH?

TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Mark 5-7 chapters

DEVOTION

Mark 7:18-19

When interpreting dietary laws, the Jews believed that they could remain clean before God by avoiding certain foods. But Jesus pointed out that true defilement does not come from what enters the body, rather, it comes from what flows out of a person’s heart.

Many of us are very conscious of what we put into our bodies. We carefully check the ingredients and labels of protein shakes, protein bars, dark chocolates, and other trending health foods to make sure they are good for us.

But how many of us are equally careful about what we feed our minds through what we watch and listen to?

We are often intentional about nourishing our bodies with healthy food, yet careless about what we allow into our minds. We may eat healthy, wholesome meals while consuming mental and spiritual “junk” through the content we watch, the conversations we engage in, and the things we listen to.

So, what are you more concerned about what you put into your body or what shapes your mind, attitudes, and thoughts?

Just as we guard our physical health, we must also guard our hearts and minds. What we repeatedly watch and listen to can influence our thinking, shape our attitudes, and affect our walk with God.

Let us be intentional not only about what nourishes our bodies but also about what feeds our souls.

PRAYER

Lord, help me to becareful of what I feed my mind through what I watch and listen to. Give me the wisdom to discern what is good and the discipline to turn away from what is harmful. As I begin my day, help me guard my heart and keep my thoughts pleasing to You. May what I allow into my mind draw me closer to You. In Jesus name, amen.
