TODAY’ SCRIPTURE: Psalms 97-99 Chapters
DEVOTION
“Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also called on his name. They cried to the Lord for help, and he answered them.” Psalm 99:6 (NLT) The Bible records many occasions when Moses, Aaron, and Samuel cried out to God for help and God answered.
One such example is found in 1 Samuel 7: 3 to 17 verses. The Israelites gathered at Mizpah to repent, put away their idols, and to worship the true God. When the Philistines heard about this gathering, they mobilized their army and prepared to attack. Faced with an unexpected threat, Samuel prayed to the Lord, and God answered.
How encouraging!
Have you ever prayed about something and seen God answer?
Sometimes life brings unexpected challenges just when you are trying to do the right thing. In those moments, don’t stop praying. Continue to bring your requests before God until He answers. His answer may be “yes,” “no,” or “wait” but each one is still an answer from Him.
Then how long should we continue praying?
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) says, “Pray without ceasing.” We should continue until God answers. At times, praying for the same request can feel exhausting. Yet we have confidence that God hears every prayer and will respond according to His perfect will and timing.
There may also be moments when words fail you and you do not know what to pray. In those seasons, simply sit in God’s presence. He understands the prayers that never reach your lips. He hears the cries of your heart and knows every burden you carry. Keep trusting and keep praying. The God who answered Moses, Aaron, and Samuel is still answering prayers today.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for being a God who hears and answers prayer. Some of my requests have been before You for many months, but I trust Your timing and Your wisdom. Strengthen my faith as I wait, and help me continue praying without losing heart. Thank You that You hear even my silent prayers. I place every concern into Your hands and trust You to answer according to Your perfect will. Amen.
