Ecclesiastes 1:12–15 (AMP)
Life is not always filled with happy moments. The world constantly tells us to chase happiness at all costs. We are taught to believe that more success, more possessions, better relationships, or greater achievements will finally satisfy us.
King Solomon had everything most people dream of. He possessed extraordinary wealth, built magnificent houses, planted beautiful gardens, owned vast estates, and accomplished remarkable things. In today’s world view he might be listed on Forbes magazine.
Yet after experiencing it all, he concluded that lasting happiness cannot be found in people or circumstances because both are constantly changing.
How can one find true happiness?
By pleasing God.
Is happiness achieved or received?
True happiness is not something we achieve through our own efforts. It is a gift we receive from God as we walk with Him.
If you spend your life chasing happiness, you will always come up empty. Think of a chocolate bunny. A little boy eagerly bites into one of its long ears, enjoying the sweetness for a moment. But as he looks inside, he discovers it is hollow.
Much of what the world offers is like that hollow chocolate bunny. It looks attractive and promises satisfaction, but it cannot fill the emptiness of the human heart.
Only one Person can give lasting joy and satisfaction it’s Jesus Christ. Our circumstances may change, our possessions may fade, and people may disappoint us, but the joy that comes from knowing Jesus remains. True happiness is not found in having more of everything but it is found in knowing Him.
PRAYER
Dear God, thank You for the true joy that comes from knowing You. Forgive me for seeking happiness in the temporary pleasures and possessions of this world. Help me to seek You above everything else and to know You more deeply each day. May my joy always be found in You alone. In Jesus name, Amen
