TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Matthew 1-3 Chapters
DEVOTION
Matthew 1:24 (NKJV)
“Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife.”
The words “did as the angel of the Lord commanded him” really stood out to me.
As soon as the angel spoke to Joseph, he responded. He changed his plans quickly and obeyed God by proceeding with His plan for him to take Mary as his wife. Although others may have disapproved of his decision, Joseph went ahead with what he knew was right before God.
The circumstances surrounding Joseph’s decision must have been frightening and overwhelming for a young man. Yet, despite the uncertainty, the pressure, and what others might have thought, he obeyed.
Sometimes, we avoid doing what is right because we are concerned about what others will think or say. We may allow people’s opinions, our circumstances, or our fears to become greater than our desire to obey God.
Like Joseph, we must choose to obey God rather than seek the approval of others. True obedience means trusting God even when His direction is difficult, uncomfortable, or misunderstood by those around us.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for speaking to me through Your Word today. Help me to rise above my circumstances and situations and faithfully obey You. Give me the courage to do what is right, even when it is difficult or unpopular.
May my obedience bring glory and honor to Your name. In Jesus name, amen.
