TODAY’s SCRIPTURE: Matthew 4-6 chapters
DEVOTION
Matthew 5:13
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Matthew 5:13 NKJV
When you bake a pizza without seasoning, it doesn’t taste quite the same, right? Seasoning is important because it brings out the flavor. Personally, I love pizza with a little oregano!
But what happens if the seasoning loses its flavor? Obviously, it becomes useless.
Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth. If Christians make no effort to influence the world around them, we lose our purpose. If we become just like the world, we are no different from it.
Christ didn’t come to earth simply to blend in with everyone else, and as His followers, we shouldn’t either. We are called to be different to positively influence the people around us and bring out the best in them, just as seasoning brings out the best flavor in food.
So, be the oregano in the pizza. Be the person who brings goodness, kindness, hope, and Christ’s love wherever you go.
Be the best where you are.
PRAYER
Lord, this world is full of evil, but You have called me to be a positive influence wherever I am. Help me to be like seasoning in my friend circle, at school, at college, in the marketplace, at home, and wherever I go. Help me bring out the best in others and reflect Your love through my words and actions. Lord, help me not to simply blend in with the world, but to make a difference for You. In Jesus name, amen.
