TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Habakkuk 1-3 Chapters
DEVOTION
Habakkuk 3:17-19
Even in the times of crop failure and the death of flocks, Habakkuk lived in a rural setting where such losses could affect everything. If we were to relate this to the 21st century, it could sound like losing a job, facing a loss in business, loss in the stocks, loss in your relationships.
Sometimes, life doesn’t go the way we expect. And when we lose something important, it can be painful. God is not indifferent to what we go through. As our loving Father, He cares about our pain and walks with us through difficult seasons.
Even friendships are tested by circumstances, especially during our lowest moments. When someone stays with us when we have nothing to offer and when life is difficult, we know that person is a true friend.
How much more then, can we trust God?
The God who created the universe the sun, the earth, Mars, Jupiter, you, and me desires a relationship with you.
Will you accept?
Habakkuk teaches us that we can praise God even when everything seems to be going wrong. When we choose to praise Him even when we have nothing, we demonstrate that our trust in God is not based on our circumstances.
It shows that we trust Him regardless of what is happening around us. It reveals the depth of our relationship with Him and the faith we have in His character. Our circumstances may change, but God remains the same.
PRAYER
Lord, in difficult seasons, it is really tough and painful to handle. Sometimes it feels like nothing is moving forward. But even then, I choose to praise You. I know one thing for sure, I know whom I have believed. I will trust You no matter how my circumstances are.
Help me to trust You when I have everything and when I have nothing. Help me to praise You not only for what You give me, but simply because You are God.
In Jesus name, amen.
