TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Nahum 1-3 Chapters
DEVOTION
Every game relies on rules, boundaries, fouls, and penalties that are strictly enforced by officials such as referees, umpires, and judges. Everyone understands that boundaries must be established and behavior must be monitored, otherwise the game can quickly descend into chaos.
Similarly, God has established laws, boundaries, and principles for us to live by. Yet people often break these boundaries by taking advantage of others, oppressing them, and using their power to dominate, falsely believing that power makes them right.
God identifies this behavior as sin, a deliberate act of disobedience and rebellion against His authority.
At times, it may appear that wrongdoers are succeeding, as though no whistle is being blown and no foul is being called. But God sees everything, and His justice will ultimately prevail.
Nahum reminds us that God is just and that evil will not go unpunished forever.
The same is true in our personal lives. When we sin and genuinely confess, God is faithful to forgive us. However, forgiveness does not always remove the earthly consequences of our actions.
So, my dear friend, do not continue in sin thinking, “God will forgive me anyway.” Never take God’s grace for granted. Wrongdoing is still wrongdoing, and our choices can have consequences that we must face.
Let us not use God’s forgiveness as an excuse to continue sinning. Instead, let His grace lead us to repentance, obedience, and a life that honors Him.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for teaching me Your laws, boundaries, and principles for living a life that pleases You. You are a just and righteous God.
Help me never take Your grace and forgiveness for granted. Give me the strength to turn away from wrongdoing, to obey Your Word, and to live a life that is pleasing to You. Guide my thoughts, words, and actions each day. In Jesus name, amen.
