Ezekiel 43:18-27, 44:6-9
Yesterday, we meditated on God’s sovereign character on His perfection, His faithfulness to His promises, and His divine protection over our lives. When we understand how holy and faithful God is, the natural response is to ask
How do we live in a way that honors Him?
In Ezekiel chapters 43, 44 and 45, the Lord reveals the blueprint for His sanctuary. These chapters move from physical architecture and altar ordinances to the holiness of the heart. For believers in the New Covenant, the stone temple points directly to us, our bodies and lives are the living temples of the Holy Spirit.
1.THE DESCRIPTION
Read Ezekiel 43:18-27
God never leaves holiness to human guesswork.
Romans 12:1 commands us: “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
Just as the altar had to be cleansed before the offerings were accepted, our daily lives require continuous sanctification and dedication before the Lord.
2.THE DISCIPLINE
Read Ezekiel 44:6-8
Here, God confronts Israel’s lack of discipline and spiritual negligence.
The apostle Paul warns the church in
1 Corinthians 3:16-17: “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”
When we allow pride, malice, nonsense on media, bitterness, and worldly morals into our hearts, we commit the very same error Israel committed, inviting the unholy into the sacred courts.
3.THE DEFERENCE
Read Ezekiel 44:9
God laid down a firm, uncompromised decree that total separation from what is defiled.
The Lord’s Table:
When we come to the Communion table, we cannot participate carelessly.
The Apostle Paul writes:
Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” – 1 Corinthians 11:27-28
Just as uncircumcised foreigners could not casually walk into the ancient temple, we cannot indulge in worldly ways all the week and then take communion flippantly. The Holy Spirit demands self-examination, genuine repentance, and reverence for Christ’s sacrifice.
THE CALL
God has revealed His Description (His holy standard).
He has warned us against the lack of Discipline (allowing worldly compromise).
Now, we must yield in complete Deference to His Directives.
Let us examine our hearts, what we watch, what we think, and what we entertain. Let us cleanse the temple of our hearts through the blood of Christ so that when we present ourselves at His table and in daily prayer, our lives are a holy, living sacrifice pleasing in His sight.

Dear Lord, sanctify my vision, my words, my actions, my attitude. May my words and heart be right in your sight. In Jesus name, amen.
