TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Lamentations 1-5 Chapters
DEVOTION
Lamentations 3:27 NKJV
“It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth.”
To bear the yoke means to willingly come under God’s discipline, correction, and guidance and to learn what He wants to teach us.
God desires to shape our character, correct our ways, and draw us closer to Him today.
Here are two important steps we can practice
1.Silent Reflection
Every night before you go to sleep, spend a few quiet moments in God’s presence.
Look back on your day and ask
“Lord, is there anything in my thoughts, words, attitudes, or actions that displeased You?”
Allow God to search your heart and bring things into His light. Be willing to listen, surrender, and lay everything before Him at the altar.
It may not always be comfortable to face our mistakes, but honest reflection in God’s presence is one of the best things we can do for our spiritual growth.
2.Repentant Humility
When God reveals something that needs to change, don’t justify it, ignore it, or postpone dealing with it.
Humbly repent. Surrender it to God and make a firm decision to turn away from it.
True repentance is more than feeling sorry. It is choosing a different path with God’s help and standing firm in that decision, no matter what.
There are many other aspects of bearing the yoke, but let’s begin with these two today.
If you have drifted away from Him, come back.
You are not too far gone. Your Father is waiting for you with open arms. He wants to restore you, teach you, and lead you into His ways. Don’t wait for tomorrow to surrender what God is asking you to surrender today.
PRAYER
Lord, as I reflect on my day, search my heart and reveal anything in my thoughts, words, attitudes, or actions that is not pleasing to You. Give me the humility to accept Your correction and the courage to surrender everything at this altar. Teach me to bear Your yoke while I am young and to walk faithfully in Your ways. Thank You for receiving me with open arms whenever I return to You. In Jesus name, amen.
