11 AUGUST 2026, DAY 223 – LOVE THAT COSTS

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Jeremiah 19-21 Chapters

DEVOTION
Jeremiah 20:7-18
Jeremiah cried out to God in despair, with both praise and a burdened heart. God had called Jeremiah to proclaim His word. Jeremiah obeyed and faithfully proclaimed what God told him to say. But what did he receive in return? Persecution, rejection, sorrow and suffering.

While doing God’s will and walking according to His plan, we shouldn’t focus on the results or rewards we might receive. Instead, we should be willing to face anything that comes our way for the sake of proclaiming His Word or any kind of work for God even persecution, sorrow, hardship, or suffering.

We obey God and walk in His plan not because of what we will gain from it, but because we love Him. Our obedience should flow out of our love for Him.

When you truly love someone, you are willing to do anything for that person, no matter how difficult or demanding it may be.

I see this in the life of my dad being a doctor even after working long hours and doing night duties, he would still come home and spend time talking with me and my brother patiently. Sometimes, even after a long and tiring duty, he would take us out.
We could clearly see that he was tired, yet his love for me and my brother made him willing to do those things for us.

In the same way, when we truly love God, doing things for Him will not become impossible for us. Of course, it will require effort, sacrifice, and perseverance. There will be difficult days, but our love for Christ should make us willing to say, Lord, whatever it costs I will obey and proclaim your good news with boldness.

Let us be willing to do anything for Christ, no matter what it costs us not because we are seeking rewards or recognition but simply because we love Him.

PRAYER
Lord, thank You for teaching me through the life of Jeremiah what true obedience looks like.
Help me to obey You regardless of my circumstances and no matter what it costs me. Give me the courage and boldness to proclaim Your Word faithfully, even when it is difficult. Lord, give me opportunities to share the Good News with others, and help me to recognize and faithfully use every opportunity You give me. May Your Word become like a fire in my bones, and may I never be ashamed to proclaim it. In Jesus name, Amen.
