TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Job 34–36 Chapters DEVOTION
In this portion of Scripture, Elihu strongly believes that Job’s suffering is the result of sin, while declaring that God is always just in His ways. Although his words contain truth about God’s character, his conclusion about Job is inaccurate.
Likewise, throughout the book, Job’s friends speak many truths, yet those truths are often mixed with assumptions and misunderstanding. Therefore, this reminds us to be careful not to make quick judgments about someone else’s suffering, even when we have biblical knowledge and personal experience. At the same time, we must remember that not every hardship is a punishment from God. Sometimes suffering can be a test of faith, a season of growth, or part of a greater purpose beyond our understanding.
What amazes me most, however, is Job’s response through it all. Even without anyone before him to guide or encourage him, he remained faithful. Job din’t read bible like us to be encouraged. In fact, what sustained him was his unconditional love for God. Look at his commitment to God. Today, although we have many examples in the Bible to learn from, we still struggle to apply them in our own lives. Nevertheless, Job’s endurance and faith continue to challenge us to remain faithful in every circumstance.
PRAYER
Lord, I am challenged by Job’s faithfulness. Please help me to endure suffering with faith and to trust You in every season of life. Amen.
