TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : II Chronicles 17-20 chapters
DEVOTION
II chronicles 20:35-37 King Jehoshaphat of Judah entered into an alliance with King Ahaziah of Israel, who was a very wicked man. Together, they built a fleet of trading ships. From a human perspective, this seemed like a WISE and STRATEGIC decision. Two kingdoms partnering together should have strengthened their position and brought success. However, God saw it differently. Because Jehoshaphat aligned himself with someone who did not honor God, as a result the work was destroyed. The ships were wrecked and never put out to sea. What looked promising outwardly failed completely because it lacked God’s approval. This leads us to an important question With whom are you associating?
Whether in friendships, partnerships or business decisions, associations matter deeply. They influence your choices, your values, and ultimately your direction in life.
Ask yourself these questions before associating with people
1. Have I truly prayed and sought God’s guidance?
2. What are my motives?
3. Am I looking for a quick fix to my problems?
4. Am I willing to choose God’s way, even if it means less profit or slower progress?
Godly associations lead to unity, purpose, and growth in the right direction.
But ungodly associations often begin with small compromises that slowly grow into bigger ones, pulling you away from God’s path.
II Corinthians 6:14 reminds us that “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?”
When values are not aligned, compromise becomes inevitable and that can lead to spiritual disaster. Choose your associations wisely.
PRAYER
I’m Lord, thank You for teaching me the importance of the people I associate with. Give me wisdom to choose relationships that honor You. Help me to walk away from any wrong associations I have made in the past. I lay them before You and choose Your will above all else. Amen.
