TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : II Kings 21-25 chapters DEVOTION
Josiah never knew his great grandfather, Hezekiah, but they were alike in many ways. Both had close, personal relationship with God. Although Josiah’s father and grandfather were exceptionally wicked, his life is an example of God’s willingness to guide those who are obedient.
Josiah is remembered as the Judah’s most obedient King. His obedience followed this pattern.
He recognized his sin
↓
Eliminated sinful practices
↓
Removed root cause of sin
This approach to sin worked wonderful. All this happened as the book of God’s law was read to Josiah, then he started recognizing sin. By your own, you can never realise sin but His word and His presence does it.
Child of God don’t forget to read God’s word on daily basis. Expose yourself to his word & definitely if something is wrong, he’ll convict and correct us. Repent of your sins but don’t repeat.
Not only we must remove sinful actions, but also eliminate the cause for sin. Those can be situations, relationships, daily routine, bad habits and whatever leads to the door of temptation.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the lesson you’ve taught me through the king Josiah. Help me to expose myself to your word on daily basis and align my thinking with your truth, convict me when I go wrong and give me strength to turn away sin.
