DAY 83 – WHOSE ADVICE ARE YOU FOLLOWING?

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : 1 Kings 9-12 chapters
DEVOTION
In 1 Kings 12, King Rehoboam faced a critical choice. He sought advice but failed to weigh it properly. He ignored the wisdom of the experienced elders and instead listened to his peers, choosing what felt good over what was right. This prideful decision led to disaster.
HOW TO EVALUATE A ADVICE
Before you act on someone’s suggestion, ask yourself these questions
1.Is it realistic?
Does it make sense in the real world?
2.Is it Godly?
Does it align with biblical principles?
Always consider the long term consequences of an action before committing to it. Advice is only truly helpful when it is in harmony with God’s will.
In the ocean of life, who are you listening to? Are you choosing advice that simply gratifies your ego or bodily desires, or are you seeking counsel that meets God’s standards?
Proverbs 14:12 reminds us that a path may seem right to us, but it can lead to ruin. Instead, lean on Psalm 119:105 which says God’s Word is the lamp that lights our path. There is no better counsel than what is found in Scripture.
PRAYER
Lord, I seek Your wisdom and counsel in every decision I make, Amen.
