DAY 8 – JACOB WRESTLES

 TODAY’S SCRIPTURE – Genesis 29–32 chapters

 DEVOTION

“But Jacob said, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’” Genesis 32:26 (NLT)

We often see little children fight for what they want like a toy, a game, or their favourite cartoon. As we grow older, we still fight but now for our ideas, opinions, and personal goals. Jacob also fought but not for a game or an argument. He WRESTLED for a blessing.

At this moment in his life, Jacob was afraid. He was about to meet his brother Esau, whom he had wronged. Fear surrounded him, but instead of running away, Jacob chose to run toward God. He wrestled with God and refused to let go until God changed his story.

Jacob teaches us a powerful truth:

When fear rises, faith must wrestle.

 The Pattern of Breakthrough

                  Fearful or scary situation

                                   ↓

                  Seeking God’s presence

                                   ↓

God gives you a new identity

and a new chapter of life

Jacob walked into that night as a fearful man but he walked out with a new name ISRAEL. When you choose to hold on to God in your struggle, He doesn’t just fix your situation, He changes you.

 REFLECTION

Are you willing to wrestle with God in prayer until He moves? Are you ready to seek Him instead of running from fear? When you turn to God in your hardest moments, He is ready to transform your pain into purpose just like He did for Jacob.

 PRAYER

Dear Jesus,I seek Your presence today. In my fears and struggles, I choose to hold on to You. Change my life into something meaningful, just like You changed Jacob’s. In JESUS name,

 Amen.
