DAY 30 – REST

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Leviticus 21-23 chapters DEVOTION

“For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is the Sabbath of the Lord wherever you live.” – Leviticus 23:3 (AMP)

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” – Exodus 20:8 (AMP).

               A Survey by Mc Kinsey

In today’s fast paced, “always-on” culture, many people are exhausted physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Even with technological and AI advancements, burnout continues to rise. Studies show that nearly 59% of Indian employees experience high levels of burnout, leading to stress, reduced productivity, and frequent job changes. Burnout does not only affect our work it affects our joy, health, relationships, and spiritual life.

The Bible presents rest not as a luxury, but as both a command and a gift. God Himself rested on the seventh day, setting an example for us. Sabbath rest reminds us that we are not sustained by our strength alone, but by God’s grace.

1. Physical Rest & the Sabbath

God calls us to balance work with rest. True rest restores our body, renews our mind, and refreshes our spirit. When we rest, we acknowledge God’s sovereignty and trust Him with our responsibilities.
2. Spiritual rest (Rest in God)

True rest is found not in sleep alone, but in trusting God. Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. When we surrender our worries and efforts to Him, He gives peace to our souls.

3. Purpose of Rest

Rest is not merely stopping work. It is a time to : Reflect on God’s will,

Strengthen our faith,

Renew our focus,

Find inner peace.

It realigns our hearts with God’s purpose.

4. What are you supposed to do ?

Our primary calling is to worship God and receive His living Word. When we spend time in His presence, He restores us, corrects us, and prepares us for the work ahead. Rest in God equips us to serve Him better.

PRAYER

Dear God, thank You for teaching me the importance of rest. I choose to rest wholeheartedly in Your presence. Renew my strength, restore my peace, and realign my heart with Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
