TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : LEVITICUS 1-7 chapters
DEVOTION ( Inspiration – Gospel light )
“Sorry” and “thank you” are two simple words, yet for many people they are the hardest to say. Still, they are vital to every healthy relationship. In the same way, this truth applies to our relationship with God as well.
To draw near to Him, we must learn to say both “sorry” and “thank you” from our hearts. This is where the offerings in the Old Testament come in. God instituted five offerings which are burnt, grain, peace, sin, and guilt. Each of these expressed either repentance (sorry)or gratitude (thank you) toward God. Together formed a pathway for sinful people to approach a holy God.
So what do these offerings mean for us today? First, they teach the sincere seeker how reconciliation with God is possible. They show us that God Himself provides a way for forgiveness and restored fellowship. Second, they encourage the backslider by reminding us that there is always a way back to God.
No matter how far one may wander, God’s mercy leaves the door open for return. Finally, they instruct every believer on what true worship looks like worship that flows from humility, gratitude, obedience, and love for God.
Although we no longer bring animal sacrifices, the heart behind these offerings still matters. God desires a repentant heart that says “sorry” for sin and a thankful heart that says “thank you” for His grace. In Christ, the ultimate sacrifice has already been made, yet our daily worship continues through repentance, gratitude, and surrender.
PRAYER
Dear God, thank You for accepting my “sorry” and “thank you” offering. Help me to live each day with a repentant heart and a grateful spirit. In JESUS name, Amen.
