TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Genesis 41–44 chapters
DEVOTION
He named the second son Ephraim (fruitful), for ‘God has made me fruitful and very successful in the land of my suffering.” – Genesis 41:51–52 (AMP)
“When troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.” -James 1:2 (NLT)
Joseph’s story teaches us something powerful:
God never wastes suffering. Joseph had been betrayed, falsely accused, forgotten, and imprisoned. Yet when God finally lifted him up, Joseph did not name his sons after his pain, he named them after God’s faithfulness.
Manasseh – “God made me forget my troubles.”
Ephraim – “God made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”
Notice this, Joseph did not become fruitful after suffering. He became fruitful in suffering. God’s equips and strengthens in Our Pain .In the book of James says that, count it all joy, when trials come your way.
God uses pain to build something inside us:
Suffering ( Faith is tested )
↓
Endurance
↓
character develops
↓
Fruitfulness & Success
When God allows pressure, He is preparing us for promotion. Joseph needed the prison before the palace. He needed character before authority. By the time he stood before Pharaoh, he was no longer a boy with dreams but he was a man ready to lead a nation. His wisdom saved thousands of lives during the famine.
A Living Example: Amy Carmichael
Amy Carmichael, an Irish missionary, left a life of comfort and came to India. She suffered illness, opposition, loneliness but she never quit. Through her endurance, she rescued hundreds of young girls from the Devadasi system. She found the Dohnavur Fellowship in Tamil Nadu, which still continues even today. She wrote books that continue to bless people around the world. Her endurance in suffering produced lasting fruit.
Today’s Truth is your suffering is not a sign that God has forgotten you. It is a sign that God is forming you. Just like Joseph, you may be in a tough place or situation right now but God is preparing you for a greater place. Don’t quit in the middle of your becoming. Your Ephraim, your fruitfulness is coming.
PRAYER
Dear God , help me navigate in tough situations of my life with courage and boldness knowing that you are in control of everything happening. Strengthen my faith in you Lord . In JESUS name,
Amen.
