TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: 1 samuel 4-7 chapters DEVOTION
Samuel tells the Israelites that if they truly want to return to God, they must remove their foreign gods and serve the Lord only. Real commitment to God is not just words it is a decision of the heart followed by consistent action. Following God means setting our hearts firmly on Him and refusing to turn back. Distractions, excuses, and doubts may try to pull us away, but a committed believer continues moving toward God.
In biblical times, idols were statues made of wood or stone. Today idols are often less visible but just as powerful. Anything that takes the first place in our hearts such as money, success, possessions, pride, popularity, or entertainment can become an idol. God desires our full devotion, not divided loyalty. When we recognize anything competing with God in our lives, we must ask Him for help to remove it and restore Him to first place.
What is taking the first place in your life?
Ask God to help remove any “modern idols.”
PRAYER
Dear God, today I decide to remove everything that competes with Him and choosing to serve Him alone. Amen.
