TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Judges 5-8 chapters DEVOTION
Judges 6:13 (NLT) “See,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say, ‘The Lord brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.”
Gideon questioned God about the problems he and his nation faced and about God’s apparent lack of help. What he didn’t acknowledge the fact that the people had brought calamity upon themselves when they decided to disobey and neglect God’s ways. It’s easy to overlook personal accountability and blame our problems on God and others. But it neither solves the problem nor draws us closer to God.
Proverbs 19:3 (NLT) says, “People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.” From now, when problems come, the first place to look is within. And one immediate response should be confession of sins to God that may have created problems.
