DEVOTION
Genesis 14:19 (NLT)
Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God most high, Creator of heaven & earth.
Everyone wants to be blessed in such a manner right ?
But we don’t want to pay the cost which Abram payed.
Reasons for Abram to be blessed
1) Loved Lot no matter what
Genesis 13:9 (NLT) says Abram & Lot separates, Abram gives him a choice to choose whichever he wanted. It is unfair to separate in that manner, but Abram was still tolerant towards him . If somebody is unjust to us, can we tolerate & still be submissive to God?
2) Abram rescues Lot
Lot had been unfair/unjust to Abram, yet Abram did not let that come in his way. He chose to rescue Lot. Genesis 14:14 – he mobilized the 318 trained men who had been born in to his household. & he divided his men & attacked during the night (strategic plan). He did not just casually try to rescue him, but helped Lot in his full capacity strategically.
Conclusion
1) Abram tolerated unjust behaviour
2) Despite Lot’s behaviour, he chose to rescue him in trouble. we all want a blessing like Abram but we don’t want to do what he did right?
PRAYER
Dear Jesus, help me love others no matter how they treat me. Lord give me a loving heart to help others , those who are ungrateful/unjust , just like the example you set before me Lord.
Father help me walk the talk . In JESUS name,
