TODAY’s SCRIPTURE : Jeremiah 16-18 Chapters
DEVOTION
Jeremiah 17:9–10 (NLT)
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”
Our hearts have been inclined toward sin from the time we were born. It is easy to fall into the routine of forgetting and forsaking God.
Then what can we do?
“Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.”
Ephesians 4:22 NLT
It is easy to fall back into our old sinful nature. But do you recognize it when it happens?
If you can recognize it, that is a good beginning. But what should we do next?
Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.” Ephesians 4:23 NLT
At the end of the day, we all have choices to make about whether or not we will continue in sin. We can either yield to a specific temptation, or we can ask God to help us resist it.
In the meantime, we are to fill our hearts and minds with God’s Word, which has the power to help us overcome every obstacle and attack of the enemy.
Let us allow the Holy Spirit to renew our minds daily. When we surrender our thoughts, motives, desires, and choices to God, He can expose what is hidden within us and lead us into His truth.
PRAYER
Lord, search my heart and know my secret motives. I lay every evil thought at Your altar. Help me not to be corrupted by deception. Renew my mind through Your Word and help me recognize and resist every temptation.
Give me a heart that DESIRES YOU above everything else. Help me walk in obedience and remain faithful to You each day.
In Jesus name, Amen.
