14 JUNE 2026, DAY 165 – WHAT ARE YOU TRADING JESUS FOR?

TODAY’s SCRIPTURE: Psalms 106-108 Chapters

DEVOTION

“They traded their glorious God for a statue of a grass-eating bull.” Psalm 106:20 (NLT) The Israelites exchanged the glory of God for something far less valuable a lifeless idol. It may seem hard to understand how they could do such a thing, yet we often make similar exchanges in our own lives.

What are you trading Jesus for?

Career achievements?

Wealth and possessions?

Entertainment and hobbies?

Relationships?

Reputation and approval from others?

Business and success?

Friends and social circles?

When anything takes the place that belongs to God alone, it becomes an idol in our hearts.  It is easy to read about the Israelites and judge them for worshiping a golden calf. Yet, in the 21st century, many of us struggle with the same issue. Our idols may not be made of gold, but they can still capture our attention and devotion more than God.

Jesus the glory of heaven, came to earth in human form, and willingly endured the suffering of the cross for us. His sacrifice was the greatest expression of love the world has ever known. Have you truly paused to consider the depth of His love for you? Today, let us examine our hearts and make sure that nothing takes His rightful place.

PRAYER

Lord, forgive me for trading Your presence for temporary pursuits, whether career, wealth, relationships, reputation, or personal ambitions. I make a decision to love You above all else and keep You at the center of my life. Help with the decision I made. In Jesus name, Amen. ‎
