TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Job 31-33 chapters
DEVOTION
“If I have put my trust and confidence in gold, Or have declared fine gold my hope and assurance,” “If I gloated and rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had obtained so much,” Job 31:24, 25 (AMP). Also read Job 31:24-28.
Job makes something very clear that when we place our trust in wealth, it quietly becomes a form of idolatry. Trusting money for security, identity, or happiness shifts our dependence away from God.
Even today, it’s easy to measure life by power, possessions, and status. Society often elevates those who have more wealth and makes us believe that money equals stability. But true security is not found in what we have or possess but it’s in who we trust.
As it says in Psalms 20:7 (AMP) “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, But we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Some put their confidence in earthly possessions but we trust in the name of the Lord. Wealth may fail, status may fade, but God remains constant. God is the same yesterday, today and forever that same.
Where is my trust placed?
Do I rely on God, or on what I have?
Has anything taken God’s place in my heart?
PRAYER
Lord, You are my true source of security. I trust You above everything else in my life. Help me to Guard my heart from anything that tries to replace You. Amen.
