22 APRIL 2026, DAY 112 – DISTRACTED?

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Nehemiah 5-8 Chapters DEVOTION

Nehemiah 6:1-5, Sanballat and Tobiah were desperate because the wall was almost complete, and all their previous efforts to stop the construction had failed. So they came up with another plan. In Verse 2-3, Nehemiah receives a message from them, but he discerns their intention that they were plotting against him. His response amazed me. He said “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.”

Verses 4-5, They didn’t stop sending letters .They sent the same message again and again second, third, fourth, and even a fifth time. In our lives too, when we are doing or about to accomplish something meaningful, distractions will come. They are inevitable . What matters is how we respond. Nehemiah faced repeated distractions, yet he stayed focused on his calling and the work given by God.
Can you discern your distraction like Nehemiah did?
In 1st instance you might but second, third, fourth , fifth will you still react like Nehemiah or will you succumb to the pressure of distraction?
What is distracting you from God and his work today?

Can you name it?

A friendship or relationship pulling you away from God? Your mobile phone?

Habits that don’t honour Him?

Your conversation with others?

Doom scrolling?

FOMO?

Procrastination?

Now that you recognise it, don’t ignore it. Name it and bring it before God.

PRAYER

Lord, lately I’ve been distracted by doom scrolling, procrastination, wrong relationships and the list goes on. I lay them at Your altar. Help me fix my eyes on You alone and your work, Amen.
