TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Ezra 6-10 chapters DEVOTION
“He had begun his journey from Babylon on the first day of the first month, and he arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month, for the gracious hand of his God was on him.” “For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.” Ezra 7:9,10 (NIV)
Ezra arrived in Jerusalem from Babylon, and the scripture tells us that the gracious hand of God was on him throughout the journey.
If we look at the following verse, we see the reason why?
1.Ezra had devoted himself to study
2.To observance of the Law of the Lord.
TO DEVOTE (Verse 9) means to give a significant amount of time and energy to something. Ezra gave his time and energy to studying the Word.
Verse 9 (NLT) Ezra was “determined” to study. DETERMINATION is having firmly decided to do something and to succeed or move forward, even when it is difficult.
Ezra was devoted and determined to study the Law. Have you set a specific time to study His Word?
Are you devoted and determined to study the Word like Ezra?
Observance (Verse 10) Ezra didn’t just study the Law, he obeyed and observed it. In simple terms, he walked by what’s written in the law. We all want God’s gracious hand in our lives but don’t want to study and obey right?
But we see in verse 10 that Because he studied and obeyed the Law, the gracious hand of God was with him throughout his journey. Now you know what to do.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for teaching me the importance of studying and obeying your law, now I’m making a decision to set a specific time to study your word on daily basis. Thank you for your gracious hand upon my life. Amen.
