TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: II Samuel 9-12 chapters DEVOTION
David fell in to temptation without thinking of the consequences. What makes his spiritual descent even more perplexing is that he was known as being “a man after God’s own heart”. He was a boy who killed a gigantic philistine, Goliath. David was also appointed to lead the nation of Israel and got a lot of military victories. But we are told that there are few wrong choices that lead him to mistake.
1. David lowered his guard
David was idle, instead of leading his troops in to battle, he was leisurely on roof taking time off and in addition he didn’t engage in activities of his youth, like worshiping God in song, spending time alone, depending on God for strength. By moving away from the intimacy of God, he became more vulnerable to the pull of temptation.

PRAYER
Lord, I repent of time, wasted on distractions. Today I decide to spend time intentionally in worshiping, praying, reading the word and growing close to you. Amen.
