TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Deuteronomy 4-6 chapters DEVOTION
Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.
The word “love” in these verses primarily speaks about the mental effort & the will. Here love means dedicated love Jesus quoted this scripture in Matthew 22:37,38 that “This is the first & greatest Commandment” But what does it mean to love God with all your heart, soul, strength?
LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART
To the ancient Hebrews, the heart referred to the core of one’s being. To love God with all your heart means the love for God needed to be at the center of your life.
LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR SOUL
Soul refers to emotion. To love with your soul means that you are not afraid of expressing your feelings to God.
LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH
Means to love God with commitment and determination. In other words, You will want to fill your mind with the truth of God so that you can love him with your ability to reason. Love for God is the basis for obedience. Place this holy pursuit at the forefront of your life, and everything else will fall into place.

Dear God, today I make a commitment to truly love you with all my heart, soul, and strength. Amen.
