TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Numbers 25-27 chapters DEVOTION
As Moses neared the end of his journey, he did not focus on his own loss of position, but on the future of God’s people. He prayed earnestly that the Lord would appoint a successor so Israel would not be “like sheep without a shepherd.” His concern shows true spiritual leadership is putting people before personal legacy.
God’s answer was Joshua, a man who had been shaped through years of faithful service. Joshua had walked closely with Moses, guarded the Tent of Meeting, and courageously led in battle. His preparation reminds us that strong leaders are formed over time through obedience, humility, and responsibility.
Moses publicly commissioned Joshua before Eleazar and the entire community. By laying hands on him, Moses affirmed God’s choice and transferred authority with confidence and trust. This act strengthened the people’s faith in their new leader and ensured unity.
Lessons from the Transition
1.Proactive Planning: Moses prepared for the future instead of leaving a leadership gap.
2.Dependence on God: He depended on God to choose the right leader.
3.Mentorship: Joshua was trained through close relationship and real responsibility.
True leaders do not cling to position, they build others.
You may not hold a formal leadership role, but true leadership is shown through faithful action, integrity and service wherever God has placed you.
PRAYER
Dear God, help me be faithful in my actions, integrity and service wherever I’m placed. Help me build others. In Jesus name, Amen.
