TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Numbers 16-18 chapters DEVOTION
Korah was a Levite who assisted in the daily work of the tabernacle. Shortly after Israel’s rebellion against God, he stirred up rebellion and confronted Moses and Aaron.
Let’s summarize Korah’s complaints:
“You are no better than anyone else.”
“Everyone in Israel has been chosen by God.”
“We don’t need to obey you.”
Korah accepted the first two statements but used them to reach a wrong conclusion. Moses would have agreed with statements 1 and 2, but he strongly disagreed with Korah’s conclusion. Korah’s story gives us an important warning:
1.Don’t desire what others have. Be content with what God has given you.
2.Don’t look for satisfaction in power or position.
3.Don’t build your self-worth by tearing others down.
True peace comes from trusting God’s calling for our own lives, not competing with someone else’s.
PRAYER
Dear God, thank You for the lessons and warnings from this story. Help me to rejoice when others prosper and excel. Teach me to be content with what I have and faithful where You have placed me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
