TODAY’S SCRIPTURE : Leviticus 16 chapter DEVOTION
“In future generations, the purification ceremony will be performed by the priest who has been anointed and ordained as high priest.” -Leviticus 16:32 (NLT)
The Lord said to Moses, “Warn your brother, Aaron, not to enter the Most Holy Place behind the inner curtain whenever he chooses. If he does, he will die. For the Ark’s cover, the place of atonement is there, and I myself am present in the cloud above the atonement cover.” -Leviticus 16:2(NLT)
“So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.” -Hebrews 4:14( NLT)
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”- Hebrews 4:16(NLT)
When we compare Leviticus and Hebrews, we see a powerful contrast. In Leviticus, everything is very specific like who is anointed, who is ordained, and who alone is allowed to enter God’s presence. Moses warns Aaron not to enter the Most Holy Place freely, because if he does, he will die. God’s holiness demanded strict obedience and careful approach.
But in Hebrews, we see something new and beautiful. Jesus is now our great High Priest. What a privilege! Through Him, we are invited to come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. Let’s see what this previlege does to you. You might have done wrong things, sinned or went far from God and his presence, Maybe you are in a shameful situation, Maybe you feel guilty things in your life, Maybe you feel worthless, Maybe you feel unfit for anything.
But remember this, Child of God Jesus Christ is our great High Priest. Come boldly to His throne without fear and without hesitation. Come to Him just as you are. He loves you just the way you are. He loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son for you.
PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for being my High Priest and for allowing me to come boldly to Your throne without any fear or hesitation. What an honour and privilege it is. Yes, Lord, I come boldly to Your throne and I hand over my shame, guilt, sinful nature, and feeling of worthlessness to You.In Jesus name, Amen.
