DAY 21 -GOD’S DESIRE TO DWELL WITH HIS PEOPLE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Exodus 25-28 chapters

 DEVOTION

“Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them.” – Exodus 25:8 (NLT)
This single verse beautifully captures the heart behind all the tabernacle instructions in Exodus 25-28. At first glance, these chapters may seem filled with intricate details about curtains, altars, priestly garments, and sacred furnishings. However, when we look deeper, we realize that they reveal something far more meaningful that’s God’s desire for fellowship with His people. In other words, God was not just giving architectural instructions. Instead, He was creating a way to live among the Israelites. Although He is a holy God and humans are sinful, He still made a way for relationship.
Therefore, the tabernacle became the meeting place where heaven touched earth. Moreover, every detail in these chapters pointed forward to something greater. The sacrifices, the priesthood, and even the design of the tabernacle all foreshadowed Jesus Christ, the ultimate sacrifice. Through Him, sinful humans could finally approach a holy God without fear. This is exactly what Hebrews 9:28 reminds us, “So also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” (NLT)
When Jesus came to earth and died on the cross, something extraordinary happened. The veil in the temple was torn in two. As a result, the barrier between God and humanity was removed. No longer was God’s presence restricted to a sacred room now, through Jesus, we all have direct access to Him. Isn’t it amazing?
The God who once dwelt in a tent among Israel now chooses to dwell in our hearts. In conclusion, Exodus 25-28 is not just about ancient rituals, it’s about God’s relentless love and His longing to be close to His people. Through Jesus, that longing is fully fulfilled. God doesn’t just want to be near you He wants to live within you.
